CloseHow are sink and stove cutouts done and can I keep the cutouts?
With our CNC technology, we have the ability to cut any sink or surface unit cutout with computer aided design files. Undermount sinks (sinks that are mounted under that countertop so as not to show any rim) are fully cut out, then the inside of the hole is polished. The countertop is sometimes flipped over and reinforced with metal rods for extra support. Top mount or cooktop cutouts are generally cut into each corner leaving some of the straight section to be cut onsite to facilitate safe shipping. Because the undermount sink cutouts are done on the CNC machine, the pieces are not salvageable. The machine comes down in the center of the cutout and cuts outward, therefore leaving the remaining pieces of the cutout to fall and break. With top mount and cooktop cutouts, you may keep the cutouts if requested in advance. Please keep in mind that because of how the corners have to be cut, they are typically much smaller than expected. We charge $150 to polish your cutouts.
